The Narrow Channel

All powerful claims to your personhood begin by laying claim to something buried deep inside.

All of the best sales pitches, from religion to the market, assert that their agenda is, on some level, perhaps unknown to you, your agenda.

By doing so, they internalise their own mythologies, which makes them so difficult to shift.

The need to progress, to grow, to contribute, to evolve, to achieve.

None of these are dangerous in and of themselves, but they are dangerous if these mythologies aren’t actually based upon your own values.

The challenge here is to listen deeply. It is significantly harder to carve a narrow path along a rock face than to fall into grooves already laid.

But grooves already laid take you somewhere else, to paths that aren’t your own and to destinations you may not want to go.

To slowly, steadily explore and carve out your own path is the only one that honours and dignifies you, in your totality.

Without question much harder. Without question much truer.
