Systems of fear
Systems try to build a sense of urgency. A speed that is often not your own. They seem in a rush. Constantly imperilled by the sense of being extinguished; death, war, calamity, or a catastrophe seemingly around the corner.
When in reality, life plods on as it always has.
Sure, there’s constant ups and downs. Things break and order often breaks down. But the sense of doom that’s sold to you as reality is just that, a sales trick. To force you into behaviour and to adopt risks that are not your own.
Aligning with your values is to construct a framework, a way of viewing the world that is your own. Independent of someone or something else's sense of risk.
Creating a view of the world that is independent offers you a clearer sense of what matters and therefore the things of which you do and don’t need to be fearful.
The benefits are huge. The news no longer needs to be an endless stream of anxiety-inducing, highly internalised panic.
Life will plod on. The story is yours. As before, the choice is yours.
