Magnetic North
Freedom itself can be trapping.
This sounds counterintuitive based on everything that has been so passionately put forward.
Wasn’t the system and external pressure and the force it exerts the trapping mechanism? Yes, but freedom, in the relative sense, is an equal constraint.
Removal of obedience solely to external pressures can also be like a compass that no longer spins in any direction. That slightly floppy metal that points downward with gravity instead.
Personal rebellion implies freedom in the service of an inner voice. Not freedom as an end in itself. A fine tuning to an internal and intuitive direction where the magnetic north isn’t one derived from a vapid or external transient.
Instead it is an intuitive alignment with a sense of something that is unchanging, untouched and exclusively yours.
That way, so powerful is the pulling force that neither gravity nor a weaker magnet can pull it away from the direction it wants to point.
Sometimes, that needs to be refound.
