Striving and Tension

Nothing about personal rebellion is a dismissal of the reality of societal pressure and tension. Instead it's a question of alignment. Alignment behind personal values.

This means that on occasion these values may clash with society. And that may indeed lead to consequences, but that is rare. Even if the great men of history have bent society accordingly. That's for another post.

This however is a question of standing behind personal values. Such that the tension and striving are worth it, not for some external goal, some mythical external validation, but rather so that the internal tension no longer exists. That there is complete harmony in striving.

This frees. It enables flow. The greatest artists exhibit this, as do the sports people, the artisans. It's why they're so admired. Because their internal clock ticks to the same rhythm as their actions.

With no care for the whims of the external world.
