Awareness and Choice
Society hurries you along. Your school, your work, your death. Hurried.
Moved along. A queue, waiting to be served a final gesture that never really comes.
We’re all in a hurry but most don’t know why. They rarely ask the question. The question is implicit in the pace.
If the pressure keeps you moving, then to question is to stand face to face with the very thing that is pressing you. And that’s incredibly scary. How can you possibly question why everyone is queuing? Join the queue, stand in silence and wait your turn.
But then some do. They ask. They question the fundamental logic of why we’re all in such a hurry going nowhere. And in that questioning they shine a light on the whole thing. Point out that you’ve been standing in the dark all along.
And that’s liberating. Because you can do anything. Go anywhere. Be anyone. Because the queue wasn’t really there in the first place.
You weren’t really waiting for anything.
