Rebellion is not contrarianism
Rebellion is not resistance.
It’s not a position that exists solely in opposition to someone, something or an idea. It’s far beyond that.
If it existed only in opposition it would be worthless. That’s the position of the revolutionary. It stands in opposition to something. It’s very existence therefore depending on the thing it opposes. It therefore lives and dies on the very same plane of the thing it opposes.
It’s why revolutions die, either through successful domination or through being oppressed and subsumed.
Rebellion acts outside that. It chooses whether to go along with or to exist by itself. It owns itself in its unity and wholeness. It serves no other, either through compliance or opposition.
It is driven, sustained and exists purely for itself. In that way it is closer to art than science. But it exists outside both.
True rebellion serves no purpose.
